La
Campagne Saint Charles was built of stone during the French
Revolution. Located in the village of Cotignac, in the
heart of the Var, this comfortable old farmhouse can accommodate
a maximum of eight people.
The
covered terrace overlooking the pool serves as an outdoor
sitting room; the other terrace, furnished as a dining
area, is shaded by an ancient mulberry tree, a souvenir
of the days when silk worms were raised in the top floor.
Exposed
stone, ancient beams, archways, old doors and floor tiles,
an elegant fireplace, create a charming atmosphere. A
cosy sitting room, hall and dining room, all with underfloor
heating, provide comfort during the cooler months. Two
bedrooms are located on the second floor, and two more
bedrooms on the third floor, each furnished with a double
bed. The second and third floors have new bathrooms.
The
old galley kitchen has been turned into a pantry, and
a new, large, and fully equipped kitchen created from
what used to be the garage. There is an oven, a gas cooktop,
toaster oven, food processor, two refrigerators, and a
dishwasher. There are ample wineglasses, dishes, serving
pieces, and cutlery.
The
house is furnished with a mixture of antique and new pieces;
there are oriental carpets, old prints, books, and paintings.
Linens
and towels are supplied.
